Basic Terms you need to know about Redox Signaling
Redox signaling is
cellular communication within a living organism and is an essential function of
normal physiology. In fact, a wide range of biochemical and physiological
processes critically depend on redox signaling in and among our cells. Oxidative
stress creates an imbalance between pro-oxidants and antioxidant systems in
your body. An imbalance can be a result of several environmental factors such
as exposure to pollutants, infections, poor diet, toxins, and radiation. To
counter this, your body utilizes redox signaling molecules to communicate and
to help maintain a healthy balance between pro-oxidants and antioxidants. Your
health depends on a balance between oxidative stress and antioxidant defenses.
As we age, and as stress and environmental toxins inundate our lives and weaken
our defenses, normal cellular function declines, and with it, the body’s
ability to produce and maintain a proper balance of redox signaling molecules. Through
this process, these molecules support crucial immune system functions, as well
as cell renewal and healing at every age, but our ability to utilize these
molecules becomes less efficient as we age. ASEA said. In order for us to understand the importance
of redox signaling, we need to have a clear understanding with the basic terms.

1. FREE RADICALS. The free radicals is
forming when a group of atoms, having an odd number of electrons interact with
the oxygen. The electrons who is in odd number will result to one or more
unpaired electrons. It’s true that one the most important thing in our body is
the oxygen, oxygen is our basic building block in order for us to survive. Unfortunately,
if this oxygen became too much in our body or to low and not balanced by
supplements in our body’s own antioxidant mechanisms. If that happens the
oxygenation process is a very risky thing in our health. Another thing that
could possibly happen if their imbalanced in our system disease, aging and
deterioration are possible.
2. OXIDATIVE DAMAGE. It occurs when these
unstable free radicals interact with other molecules in the body. As these
unstable reactive radicals domino, one unstable molecule steals an electron
from the next and so on. This results in a snowball effect and creating
imbalance in reluctant and oxidants greater than the body is able to remedy or
mitigate. The deleterious effects of oxidative damage affect DNA and cell
function. Cells may function poorly or die if this occurs. To prevent free
radical damage the body must deploy its defense system of antioxidants
including Glutathione, Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD), and Catalase, or utilize
external supplemental sources of antioxidants. Redox signaling supplements can
increase our body’s production of these endogenously produced antioxidants.
3. ANTIOXIDANT. It is another important
thing in our body, through redox signaling it activates this antioxidants,
because antioxidant can safely interact with the free radicals. One of the
basic thing that we need to know about antioxidant is its power to communicate
or to terminate the chain reaction before vital molecules are damaged that is
caused by free radicals. Another great ability of antioxidant is that it can
reduced oxidants into their reduced forms through donating their electrons
without becoming free radicals themselves.
4. REDUCTION. It is a type of redox
signaling reaction. Every time molecules are reduced, they change shape and
function. This is good news for our
bodies. As the oxidative stress in our bodies is balanced, either through
natural processes or with proper supplementation, remediation and recycling can
occur in the following imperative areas: repairing damaged molecules including
DNA, chelating or removing toxic metals, increasing natural endogenous
production of antioxidants, enhancing protection from free radicals, or promoting
apoptosis (death of cancerous or mutated cells).
5. APOPTOSIS. It is a process most
commonly called as cell death or cell suicide. The cause of cell suicide or the
apoptosis is when the oxidants reach a high level, wherein it is only detected
two hours after that big increase. Let us compare it in cancer cells. In cancer
cells apoptosis allows the cancer cells to become immortal, the cells are
unable to detect the damage and unable to repair themselves. While on the case
or redox signaling, the mitochondria have broken down as a result of the lost
ability to carry on the network of redox signaling, impairing the apoptosis
process from taking place. Also in cancer cells it will only replicate and it
will continue to grow and spread all throughout the body.
These are the basic
terms and little processes that you need to know about the redox signaling,
because it is very important that you know a little information with what you
are involving in. These things are not hard to understand, you just need to
know this things to be enlightened. Try ASEA Water Redox Supplement a dietary supplement helping to protect, rejuvenate,
